Carp on the Fly
Saturday, Bill Henry, a friend of mine from NYCTroutbums.com, took me down to a top secret location on the Passaic River to sight fish for carp. The scenery was less than breathtaking, and if you knew where and how we got to the spot we fished, you would probably be amazed that we’re still alive. The fishing, however, was just awesome. As the tide rolled out, the water slowly receded to show schools of tailing carp. I spotted the largest fish in the school and carefully pitched a size 12 white woolly bugger in the feeding carp’s path. With a quick gulp, the fish sucked the fly and the fight was on! The drag ripping, rod bending power these fish have is something I wont soon forget. This guy was only 10 pounds, so I can only imagine what a 30 pounder is like. Since saturday, all I’ve been thinking about is big carp. I’m sure it wont be long before you’re seeing more carp pictures from me. Actually, I can pretty much guarantee it.
For some reason, we had the flash off on our cameras. As you can tell, the pictures are a bit grainy.
